The world is experiencing a loneliness epidemic, it would seem. At Starbucks, they believe that having uplifting encounters can create meaningful moments.

The global coffee brand recently partnered with England captain Harry Kane to set up ‘kindness cafes’. The idea is to encourage customers to reach out over a coffee, match up with a matcha latte or chat over a cold brew. It’s all about making connections with people – London can normally feel like an isolated place for single people.

As well as giving several stores a makeover with fussball tables and games to bring lonely people together, the iconic coffee chain has donated £500,000 to the Harry Kane Foundation.

The scheme shows the smart leveraging, bringing together the best English player with an iconic brand that is no less visible than a football hero. It’s also a clever move to make customers equate drinking coffee with helping to solve mental health issues that affect us all.
