The Donald Trump hush money trial garnered significant public interest for several reasons. There was the shock of the first former president being charged with criminal offences. The trial revolved around allegations that Trump made payments to silence individuals who claimed to have had extramarital affairs with him, with accusations that these payments were to smooth the way for Trump to win the white house.

One of the elements that fueled interest wasn’t the legal charge of falsifying business documents. On their own, these were fairly dry and would never have made the headlines. The key player that sustained the media attention has been Stormy Daniels. The adult movie made most of the shocks that got people’s interest.

The result of the trial is that Trump stands guilty of all 34 charges and is seeking a retrial. That will be far off and Trump can still be sworn in as the Republican nominee in July. Although this case may not have been as explosive as may have been hoped, it provided enough stimulation for it to be a big story for some time to come.
